AN INTERVIEW WITH SCOTTISH MOUNTAINEERING PRESS
Like many of the best things in life, my partnership with the Scottish Mountaineering Press (SMP) is something that came about quite by chance. I’d been asked to submit images of the cliffs at Cape Wrath to support Guy Robertson’s wonderful book, The Great Sea Cliffs of Scotland, and one thing led to another. Sometimes its just a case of serendipity.
Fast forward four years, and I found myself following in Guy’s footsteps - not, I hasten to add on the climbs featured in his book, many of which are far beyond anything I ever attempted - but at Fort William, to launch my own book, Northern Horizons.
A few weeks earlier, SMP had published an interview in which we discussed the themes explored in Northern Horizons, those messages I felt were most important and the future of hill running.
Northern Horizons: An Interview with Will Herman
As for the image… Taken by Stefan Bramwell, it was one of those perfect summer days in the Highlands, too hot for the midges with a cooling breeze on the bristling ridge of Stac Pollaidh. It followed one of the best week’s running we could have wished for, golden days with like minded souls among the most striking landscapes I have been fortunate enough to experience. Exactly what Northern Horizons is all about.
