Slow start to summer time

Of the dozens of times I have run over Ingleborough, one evening shortly after the clocks had changed stands out among the best. Pushed for time after work, we started from Wharfe, passing between the steep walls of Trow Gill on on past Gaping Gill.

On the top, it was about as perfect an evening as you could wish for with long views to the Lakeland Fells and across the Dales. As any good Lancastrian would, (despite emigrating to Yorkshire), Mark was quick to practice his pointing, noting that Pendle too could be seen on the skyline.

It’s been a slow start to Summer Time this year, but the curlew are back, the skylarks are singing, and an evening run over Ingleborough seems long overdue.
