An Teallach

Offering one the most dramatic ridge routes in Scotland, An Teallach is vast mountain, standing apart from the Fisherfield hills, towering above Dundonnell, the lure of its two Munro summits something every hill runner must succumb to, sooner or later.

By its shortest variation, taking in the principal summits, An Teallach gives around 10m of continually interesting and often demanding running, including some exposed scrambling.

As with all the best mountain routes, there is a bad step – one which can be avoided easily enough but which also offers easier and no less worthy alternatives to gain the famed Corrag Bhuide pinnacles, arguably best tackled going clockwise, on first acquaintance.

As the guidebooks state, in winter conditions An Teallach demands no small degree of mountaineering experience…

…but in summer, it is one of the best hill runs in Scotland.
