Beinn Alligin

Torridon is a place that for me, will always conjure the magic of childhood memories, binding the mountains and coast in ways that inspire me still. The round of the big four, beginning with Liathach and finishing on Beinn Eighe is one of the best hill runs I have done. But Beinn Alligin is worth a day in any hill runner’s life, as part of a bigger round or alone, allowing sufficient time to soak in the detail, committing the scene to memory for the years still to come.

Layered ridges reach to the horizon from high on the ridge.

The airy perch beneath the summit of Sgurr Mor.

Traversing towards Tom na Gruagaich.

And some easy if airy scrambling along the way. The Jewelled Mountain never fails to delight.
